Head Of Finance and Corporate Services  

  • Part-time (0.8/0.6) permanent role, based out of Fenwick St Geelong offices with some WFH options.

About the role 

As the Head of Finance and Corporate Services reporting directly to our CEO, you will play a pivotal role in the Foundation’s operations, providing financial leadership, guiding financial decisions and ensuring compliance.

The Head of Finance and Corporate Services also contributes to the strategic direction of the Foundation through sound analysis, forecasting and reporting in collaboration with the Executive Leadership team. The role is a key member of the ELT who work collaboratively to share leadership of the Foundation.

This is also a hands-on role and is perfect if you would describe yourself as someone who likes to get into the detail and be involved in the day-to-day tasks of a finance function as well as operating at a strategic and advisory level.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Oversight and responsibility of the financial management function of the Foundation;
  • Preparation of the annual budget and monitor financial results against budget; 
  • Prepare and review financial reports, including monthly management reports, quarterly board reports, annual financial statements and compliance reporting;  
  • Lead the Finance and Corporate Services team which includes one direct report and one project officer with dual reporting lines 
  • Oversee the monthly reconciliation of all general ledger accounts and prepare and process any necessary general journals;  
  • Maintaining the fixed assets register and obtaining external valuations;
  • Assist in the financial management and development of the Foundation’s social enterprise – The Paddock.
  • Prepare adequate working papers and be the key liaison for the annual audit;
  • Assisting the CEO in ad-hoc finance projects incorporating business cases and funding scenarios;  
  • Manage internal controls;
  • Drive the development and implementation of financial policies with the intent to improve the overall financial management of the organisation.
  • Oversee property and facilities maintenance.
  • Working with an external contractor to oversee and manage the IT requirements of the Foundation.

Essential Requirements

We are looking for someone that demonstrates: 

  • A commitment to the values and purpose of the Foundation and working in the for-purpose sector.
  • Strong understanding of NFP regulatory and legislative requirements including accounting principles, and financial reporting; 
  • Ability to interpret standards, analyse data and identify needs; 
  • Ability to build, establish and maintain relationships and manage multiple stakeholders;
  • Be able to work collaboratively and effectively with others to set goals, problem solve, and make decisions that enhance the Foundation’s effectiveness;
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to handle confidential matters with diplomacy, discretion, and tact;
  • A positive mindset and is open to feedback and new ideas.
  • Demonstrate effective time management, high level of initiative, enthusiasm, drive and energy.
  • Strong interpersonal, rapport building, and communication skills including the ability to establish and maintain professional and constructive relationships with the Board, ELT, staff and external parties to achieve required outcomes.
  • Experience with working with corporate governance frameworks.
  • Ability to work as a team member that fosters a team.
  • An understanding of financial software Netsuite and CRM Salesforce is desirable but not essential.

It is essential that you have had 3-5 year's experience in a similar role. Ideally you are CPA/CA qualified and hold a relevant tertiary qualification.
