About the Role
A great opportunity exists for a passionate and committed individual to join our Flight Operations Team in a full-time capacity as the Head of Flight Operations. The Head of Flight Operations is the leader and Accountable manager of the Company Flight Operations Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient and cost-effective deployment of the company's Flight Operations assets to best meet the business needs of the Company as set by the Managing Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as the principal Flight Operations adviser to the Managing Director.
- Ensure compliance under the civil aviation law of all flying conducted by the company as the holder of an AOC.
- Monitor the adequacy of the JetEx systems and procedures to ensure safe operation under the AOC and report on the adequacy of the systems and procedures to the MDRS.
- In concert with the Head of Safety & Quality Department, ensures that any safety related issue is promptly investigated and where appropriate, implements any necessary corrective actions or procedures.
- In co-operation with the HTC and RS Manager Ground Operations sets and monitors the standard of Flight and ground operations carried out under the JetEx AOC.
- Plan, organise, lead and control the daily operation of the Flight Operations Department through the various Department Managers toward its primary safety objectives as set out in the divisional and departmental plans.
- Manage the rostering of aircrew within the requirements of CAO Pt 48 and any exemptions.
- Maintain an efficient system for recording duty and flight times for each aircrew member employed by the Company.
- Maintain up-to-date records of all licences, ratings, medical certificates and authorisations held by each aircrew member employed by the Company.
- Maintain up-to-date records of the route and airfield qualifications of each pilot employed by the Company as a Pilot-in-Command.
- Ensures compliance, in conjunction with the Maintenance Controller(s), with maintenance check flight procedures.
- Maintain a system that will ensure compliance with the relevant loading procedures for each aircraft type used in operations authorised by the AOC and the proper preparation of passenger lists, cargo manifests and any other loading documents required for the purpose of the operations.
- Ensure a routine comparison of OFP planned fuel burn and the MR2 Flight Log fuel used for routes is made to determine compliance with CAR 220.
- Ensure the FOAPS is provided with information relating to the engineering aspects of the AFM, MEL and CDL that affect performance and navigation data.
- Ensure that records required by Regulation are properly collated, processed and stored.
- Develop and review operational policies and procedures for inclusion in the Operations Manual series and related documents.
- Ensure that the JetEx reference library and aircraft libraries are properly maintained and kept up-to-date in accordance with the Act, the Regulations and Orders.
- Ensures accurate and timely compliance by flight crews with all operational data recording and defect management procedures.
Skills and Experience
- Prior to appointment, should have approval by CASA as specified by regulatory requirements (The HFO position is an AOC key personnel position as specified in Section 28, para (3)(b) of the Civil Aviation Act 1988, and the CASA approval process is currently based on CAO 82.0 Appendix 1 and foreshadowed in CASR 119.155).
- Have experience in the management of jet operations.
- Should have a high level understanding of all of the essential operational and infrastructure requirements to conduct the company's operations.
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills commensurate with the position.
- Maintain line pilot proficiency as necessary on company aircraft.

- This position is subject to the statutory medical standards relevant to active professional pilots.
- This position requires a mixture of on-aircraft and office duties.
