Join us as we pave the path to safety and innovation across our key businesses within our Vehicle and Tactical System (VTS) segment that encompasses 4 units: Protected Mobility Vehicles, Australian Munitions, Integrated Weapon Systems, and Explosive Ordinance Services.
As a pivotal figure within our organisation, you'll spearhead the execution of our Australian HSE strategy within VTS, ensuring alignment with Thales' overarching vision.
Working either from our Melbourne Office in the World Trade Centre on Wurundjeri land or working from our Sydney HQ, Sydney Olympic Park, on Wann-gal land reporting to the Vice President HSE and supporting the Vice President Land, your role will-
Provide thought leadership and insight on HSE matters and considered advice, guidance and direction to the VTS leadership team consistent with leading industry practice, safety theory and the Thales ANZ HSE strategy
Lead a team of HSE professionals supporting our VTS activities across all States and Territories which includes manufacturing, heavy vehicle in service support and transport and logistics
Engaging proactively with our various State and Commonwealth regulators
Collaborating with stakeholders to realise the Thales HSE vision
Implementing and refining the Thales HSE Management System for continual improvement
Championing HSE capability development programs for our leaders and teams
Serving as the primary point of contact in VTS for HSE related regulatory matters
Assuring compliance with statutory obligations and management system accreditations
Managing HSE audit requirements and stakeholder reporting obligations
On day one in this role, we'll expect you to bring the following skills, experience and behaviours:
Proven success in executing HSE strategy within complex organizations
Experience in explosives, chemical industries or large-scale high-risk environments
An understanding of Injury Management, Workers Compensation, and Health Promotion within the self-insurance environment
Demonstrated capability in building strong working relationships and achieving outcomes through collaboration
Proficiency in Major Hazard Facility regulation; 5+ years preferred.
An understanding of environment sustainability topics in a European context is an advantage (REACH, CSRD & CDP)
Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, from senior leaders to frontline staff
OHS qualifications at AQF level 7 or above, environment credentials desirable
Minimum 10 years of HSE experience, including 5 years in senior national roles
Flexibility in work schedule, hours, and location (some work outside of traditional Australian business hours may be required)
Ability to hold a Baseline Clearance
