The Position
The Head of Investment & Funds Management leads the investments team to execute fund strategy and provide expertise on the performance of industry investments. Reporting to the GM, Industry Service and Delivery and overseeing Investment Managers and Advisors, this key leadership role drives delivery of Investments through accurate and meaningful evaluation, reporting and forecasting for Hort Innovation funds.
Key Responsibilities will include the following (but not limited to):
- Leadership of, and oversee, the performance of the Investment and Funds team, including developing and implementing continuous improvement processes to deliver improvements in reporting and process efficiencies, quality, and accuracy
- Management of the organisation’s investment funds to meet each fund’s financial obligations, identifying gaps in meeting investment targets, updating, communicating and problem solving on identified issues
- Provide leadership to the business on investment strategy development, planning and operations, including providing Project Managers and Industry Service Managers with analysis and reporting to support contract development, negotiations and stakeholder discussions/meetings
- Build stakeholder engagement to drive trust, and add value to, key stakeholders, internally and externally
- Report on strategic objectives for funds and provide proactive analysis of industry and dissemination and presentation of results and forecasts to the investment advisory group
- In association with the GM Industry Service & Delivery, develop an annual operating budget, monitor progress and adjust resourcing to ensure contracting is in line with forecast expenditure
We are keen to hear from you if you have the following skills, experience and key attributes:
- 5+ years’ experience leading research project investments or funds initiatives
- Known as a strong subject matter expert with a broad knowledge of Investments systems and standards ideally applied to the horticulture/agriculture industry
- High-quality project management skills with demonstrated ability to deliver multiple projects with tight turnaround times
- Expert analytical and problem-solving skills, including monitoring and evaluation metrics, business case and investment analysis
- Change management experience and continuous improvements in reporting and finance systems and processes
- Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with diverse stakeholders, both internally and externally
- Collaborative people management focus, with proven success in coaching and mentoring teams
- Knowledge of IT systems and data architecture, with the ability to translate current tools into system requirements
- Highly proficient at evaluation and dissemination of complex information
- Proven financial and business acumen, with strong commercial judgement and the ability to analyse data and draw out meaningful insights that drive strategic outcomes
- Tertiary qualifications in relevant field/discipline or demonstrated equivalent experience
- Disciplined, detail oriented and highly motivated
