    How you’ll make an impact

    We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Head of Legal and Compliance to join the CareChoice team based at our Clayton office. This senior role will report directly to our Chief Executive Officer.

    The role will provide legal advice to the Board of Directors, CEO and the Executive team to drive an effective legal framework to ensure CareChoice’s compliance with relevant Legislation, Internal policies and procedures, Human Services Standards, and NDIS Quality and Safeguard framework.

    Significant part of this role will involve taking responsibility for all Legal and Compliance aspects across two businesses (CareChoice and Supported Disability Accommodation Options). Advising key business decision makers and monitoring activity and business practices to ensure Board policy and procedures are followed will also be a key task associated with this role.

    Additionally, this role will provide technically accurate, commercially astute and succinct legal & compliance advice. The role will also be responsible for contributing to the achievement of annual targets both financial (annual budget) and non-financial nature (staff & customer satisfaction levels, client goal attainment and client retention rate) as outlined annually in the performance appraisal.

    A day in the life as our Head of Legal and Compliance, some of your key responsibilities will include:

    • Provide general in-house legal advice to the Chair, CEO, Executive and Board of Directors across CareChoice & SDA Options.
    • Managing litigation matters in tribunals (e.g., Fair Work Commission, VCAT).
    • Manage submissions and responses to regulators (Privacy, NDIS Commission, Disability Commission, DFFH).
    • Providing or procuring advice for Directors regarding the application of the Acts, company and association constitutions and other Legal and regulatory requirements.
    • Develop, implement and maintain a rigorous Audit and Compliance Plan for the business in line with the Disability Act 2006, Child, Youth & Families Act 2005, National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 and all other relevant Acts and subordinate legislation.
    • Ensuring the company APO, Finance, and Support Coordinators comply with all reporting obligations (e.g. RIDS reporting, Quarterly Support Coordinator, CoS reports etc.)
    • Lead, advise and coordinate any responses to, and participate in any relevant Royal Commissions.
    • Management of disputes and complaints where there is legal risk.

    About you

    As our Head of Legal and Compliance, you will have strong attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to meet required deadlines. In addition, you will have the desire to perform the role with the highest level of professionalism and integrity, always representing the organisation in a positive light.

    You will be self-motivated, amiable, honest, approachable with a pro-active attitude, strong people leadership capabilities and interpersonal skills is a must.

    Ideally, you’ll have:

    • Bachelor of Law and admission to practice as a legal practitioner in Victoria; minimum of three years PQE
    • Have a positive contemporary attitude to people with disability and trauma backgrounds along with extensive understanding and knowledge of disability and its impact
    • Significant experience in a similar role
    • Expertise in Person-Centred Practices and individualised service models
    • Understanding and ability to work within a role where legislation and Compliance are critical and adhered to
    • Proven time management skills, managing conflicting priorities and meeting deadlines. Ability to manage change effectively and efficiently
    • A clear and current police check, Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening
    Mandatory requirements:
    • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance Working with Children Check, Employee type (or willing to obtain)
    • NDIS Worker Orientation Module (or willing to obtain)
