Newley Created Role Based in Perth:
This key senior level leadership appointment will focus extensively with external and internal stakeholders to identify key risks and opportunities for the organisation, advising and guiding formulation and delivery of Strategy, driving the overall strategic planning processes, and monitoring implementation across the organisation. Reporting to the Executive Manager, Energy Transition & Sustainability, you will be accountable for delivering vision and direction in collaboration with Executives and Board, maintaining strong relationships with the WA State Government and other key stakeholders, as well as developing a future focused organisational sustainability strategy. And ensure all areas are fully aligned to the business strategic plan, goals, and initiatives, and deliver desired business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engages with the Executive team to develop a corporate strategy and assists the senior leadership team in setting business unit/functional plans to deliver the strategy.
- Engages with the key stakeholders including the Government, policy makers, regulators to ensure obligations are met and strategic interests are advanced.
- Accountable for the organisations Sustainability and Corporate Strategic direction, vision and strategy aligning outcomes to KPIs defined in corporate strategy.
- Develops, coordinates, and aligns organisational plans and planning systems, including the Corporate Strategic Plan and Business Unit Plans.
- Leads the external environment analysis and insights, and translation of these insights into strategic initiatives and corporate prioritisation.
- Manage relations with the Federal and State governments and other external stakeholders to deliver a better operating environment for the organisation.
- Lead advocacy and day-to-day management and influence on key policy issues and engagement with the Minister, their office and other stakeholders.
- Provides Executive and senior leaders with timely and distinctive insights into the external political climate and how that might impact the current operations and aspirations.
- Apply risk assessment and management criteria to identify strategic issues, risks, and opportunities to mitigate impacts to the organisations corporate brand and reputation.
- Lead education programs on core strategies and design initiatives to progress towards defined sustainability objectives.
The Candidate: A highly experienced and seasoned professional with significant, demonstrated experience with mergers and acquisitions or business development, in corporate advisory or another relevant environment.
Additionally, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Commercial, Engineering, Business Management, Finance, Sustainability, Social Science or related disciplines.
- Extensive and broad experience in managing business planning, strategic analysis or development in a large multi-disciplined organisation requiring an advanced understanding of diverse practices and principles.
- Significant and broad experience within a regulated enterprise (preferably in the energy sector), regulatory authority, or consulting organisation in the areas of energy policy, economic or regulatory analysis.
- Good understanding of the energy/electricity / utilities industry in Australia or globally and expertise in valuation, deal structuring and negotiation.
- Strong business acumen, comprehensive analytical and problem-solving skills, and exposure to risk management and governance processes.
- Experience in strategy either in a policy, management consulting or large corporate environment and established business networks in the advisory and energy sectors.
- Excellent communication, relationship, influencing and negotiation skills to enable leadership across organisational boundaries.
