Description & Requirements
We are seeking an experienced Head of Transportation to oversee our transportation operations in Australia and New Zealand. The Transportation Lead will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our transportation fleet- across sea- rail and road- including ensuring the safe and timely delivery of goods to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for end to end management of road- rail and sea transport that occurs across the ANZ business.
Management of the total P&L for transport costs with total budget approx. $100m
Identifying the optimisation of overall transport operations and finding methods to be cost effective
Monitor and manage transportation expenses to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints.
Design and execution of the strategy for our transport operations
Overseeing management of accounting processes including accounts payable- invoice accrual and invoice payments
Work closely with other departments to ensure that transportation activities align with broader organizational objectives.
Key Stakeholders:
Procurement: external transport partner tenders
Customer Logistics team: ongoing communication to our customers on service levels
Logistics Continuous Improvement - for guidance and support on optimisation projects
Warehousing - for service level and on time delivery support
Supply Chain Finance - accounts payable
Responsible for on time delivery of goods which directly impacts the key performance indicator of 'Service Level'.
Manage the day-to-day transportation operations in Australia and New Zealand- including overseeing a fleet of trucks and drivers.
Develop and implement transportation policies and procedures that ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Ensure that all transportation activities are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.
Develop and maintain relationships with key transportation partners- including carriers and logistics providers.
Analyse transportation data to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions that improve efficiency and reduce costs working with the Continuous Improvement team.
Manage and develop a team of 4 transportation professionals- providing coaching and mentoring as needed both looking at Sea Freight and ANZ transport execution.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of Transportation regulations and compliance requirements in Australia and New Zealand.
- Bachelor's degree in business- logistics- transportation or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation management- preferably in the Australian and New Zealand markets.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and external partners.
- Proven ability to manage and develop a team of Transportation professionals.
- Experience working with transportation management software and systems.
