We are currently working with a state government department seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Wellbeing Lead to join their team on an initial 6-month contract.
About the role
Reporting to the CHRO, you will be responsible for ensuring our client's safe operations, to meet its legislative WHS obligations and to ensure its ongoing Safety Management System maintenance. Additionally, you will be responsible for:
- Developing and coordinating projects to improve policies, procedures, accountabilities, objectives, targets, training, hazard identification, risk management, system measurement, evaluation, auditing, system review, incident reporting and workplace rehabilitation;
- Analysing injury statistics and causation data to develop processes that eradicate injury from the workplace;
- Overseeing incident investigations and closing out corrective actions;
- Implementing initiatives and frameworks that continue to promote health and Wellbeing whilst driving cultural change across the organisation;
- Coaching and mentoring leaders across the business, assisting with providing an uplift in capability and safety awareness;
- Developing and delivering training programs to the business; and
- Providing generalist HSW advice to stakeholders across the business.
About you
To be successful in his role, you will have:
- Extensive experience in WHS, with a deep understanding of legislation and best practices;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work at both a strategic and operational level;
- Ability to liaise with an Executive function and senior leadership teams with multiple priorities;
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities; and
- Collaborative and results-oriented mindset.
