The role
Continuing, Full Time
Level 5 - $77,142 to $84,218 pa (plus 17% superannuation)
Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange or Wagga Wagga
The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Officer will primarily be responsible for coordinating the administration of Charles Sturt University’s emergency planning and response activities, management of the Contractor Safety Management System, and undertake other work health and safety associated activities for the Division of Security, Safety and Wellbeing.
You will plan, schedule, and coordinate Health and Safety activities including Emergency First Responder, Contractor Safety Management, and safety inspection activities within agreed timeframes, scope, budget and quality across the University.
About you
Completion of a degree without subsequent relevant work experience as a graduate upon appointment; or completion of an associate diploma with a range of experience including at least 2 years subsequent relevant work experience; or completion of a certificate or a post-trades certificate and extensive subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience.
Knowledge of workplace health and safety, emergency management principles and emergency response procedures.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to source solutions and provide advice.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including well-developed writing and presentation skills.

The Division of Safety, Security, and Wellbeing is comprised of several teams, including the Executive Office, Chief Security Officer, Health, Safety, and Wellbeing, Student Integrity and Support, Student Counselling and Wellbeing, and Accessibility and Inclusion Support.
The primary responsibility of this division is to promote a safe and healthy culture for staff, students, and visitors of the university. To achieve this, the division is tasked with implementing, coordinating, and evaluating an enterprise-wide approach to security, safety, critical incident management, student misconduct investigations, responses to reports of sexual misconduct, assault, and harassment, student counselling, and Wellbeing support, and facilitating reasonable adjustments for students with disabilities or health conditions to support them to be successful in their study.
