About the role
Thiess is seeking a Health & Safety Officer to collaborate with site HS teams and the HS Manager QLD, to work autonomously to establish site-based initiatives through consultation with site management. The ideal candidate will build strong relationships, influence stakeholders through clear communication, and prioritise maintaining health and safety standards. As HS Officer, you will actively contribute to team discussions, stop work if doubts arise, and share knowledge to ensure a safe and informed work environment.
Additionally, you will:
Ensure that health and safety standards are maintained in all situations.
Support line management to maintain HS standards, communications, and HS leadership.
Maintain a high level of field presence coaching, supporting workforce and supervision to execute health and safety systems.
Develop skills and ultimately be able to facilitate risk assessments and incident investigations.
Support and execute HS training activity.
Conduct and/or assist with site and corporate audits. * Share knowledge with others and contribute to team discussions and meetings.
About you
Safety is your top priority. You possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with strong time management, organisational, and stakeholder management abilities. You are adaptable to changing operational situations, capable of working autonomously while actively contributing to a dispersed team, and exhibit a positive interpersonal demeanour. Additionally, familiarity with core HSS system components and a reasonable level of computer skills are essential.
You are:
Minimum Certificate 4 level in Health & Safety qualified
Independent, proactive and enjoy identifying initiatives that could improve safety
Supportive of others to deliver results and improvements
Share knowledge with others and contribute to team discussions and meetings
Eager to learn, take on new challenges, be a team player, reliable and committed to excellence.
