Meandu Mine
BUMA Australia provides a total mine service to Stanwell Corporation's Meandu Mine to deliver coal to the adjacent Tarong power station. We are responsible for both managing and operating the mine.
Services provided include planning, drilling, overburden removal, coal mining, coal processing, rehabilitation and maintenance of mobile and fixed plant. The project uses a combination of dragline and truck-and shovel operations. Meandu Mine currently has five working pits, with sufficient coal to fuel the station until at least 2037.
Job description:
We now require a Health & Safety Specialist - Contractor Management - to join our Meandu operations, reporting to the HST Superintendent on a 9 day fortnight roster. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety professional looking for the next step in their career.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the SSE, Contract Owners, contractors and suppliers to meet their obligations under the Contractor Management System and Safety & Health Management System
- Lead continuous improvement activities and provide knowledge to improve Contractor Management System
- Audit the Contractor Management System and implement improvement plans
- Conduct safety investigations, prepare reports and recommendations and implement corrective and preventative actions including ICAMs and client reports
- Ensure adherence to SHMS and maintenance of the SHMS for all contractors and contractor related documentation
- Foster productive relationships and liaise with stakeholders both internally, at all levels of the business, and externally
- Actively demonstrate values aligned with BUMA company values
- Positively contribute to the team and assist across other functions of the HST team as required

- Advanced Diploma in Workplace Health & Safety or equivalent
- Risk Management System (RIIRIS601D) (desirable)
- Workplace Health and Safety (RIIWHS601D) (desirable)
- Implement, monitor, rectify and report on contracts (RIIPRM501E) (desirable)
- RIIRIS301 Apply Risk Management Process
- RIIWHS301 Communicate Information
- RIIRIS402 Carry out the risk management process (G2)
- BSBWHS606 Conduct WHS Audit or equivalent
- Current light vehicle driver's licence is essential
- Competence in computer use with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of the mining industry's regulations and legislation relating to health and safety or relevant heavy industry experience is essential
