About the role
We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Safety and Health Senior Specialist. This role can be based in Brisbane or Newcastle, with a standard Monday - Friday roster. Regional travel is required on occasion.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior leaders to enable excellence in SHES (Safety, Health, Environment and Security) culture and performance through empowered and capable leaders, effective risk & major hazard management, and coaching in systems, standards, and governance strategy.
What you will be doing
• Aligns all behaviours with Orica’s Charter Values, Purpose and Strategy;
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with senior leaders to achieve the SHES Plan and objectives;
• Demonstrate a proactive approach towards the implementation of Orica’s SHES Plan including coaching and mentoring line leaders, delivering programs, providing advice and support;
• Support and guide the implementation of Orica SHES Standards, and System requirements;
• Undertake assurance activities to monitor the effectiveness and implementation of those Systems and Standards;
• Identify SHES improvements and facilitate the rollout of training and initiatives to enable structured and consistent performance.
What you will bring
• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Engineering, Science, or any related discipline;
• At least five (5) years of experience in a safety or risk management role, preferably in resources or heavy industry;
• Demonstrated depth of knowledge in safety & health regulatory frameworks, risk management and systems;
• Proven ability to deliver outcomes on initiatives and projects;
• Developed communication, relationship building and influencing skills.
