Health Service Manager Level 2, School Link Coordinator - SESLHD Mental Health ServiceEmployment Type: Temporary Part Time until October 2024

You will work with like-minded people who have a strong commitment to the Mental Health and well-being of young people and their families in our diverse community.You will also maintain strong connections with key partners within the NSW public as well as independent school systems, and help facilitate a continued commitment to working together.
What you'll be doingThe vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.The Coordinator will oversee the School-Link Program, implementation of the state-wide strategic plan and assist with related child, adolescent and young people population Mental Health projects identified through consultation with key service partners.This position will be responsible for maintaining a comprehensive approach to strengthening the links between children, adolescent and young people, Mental Health, identified service partners and education services, by maintaining a arrange of internal and external relationships to help facilitate there role. The position will facilitate early recognition, appropriate management and improved access and coordination of care for children, adolescents, young people and their families across service providers in health and education. (Community Partnership/Black Dog stuff)It will involve the provision of training for health and education staff and implementation of preventative evidenced based programs in schools in close collaboration with the Institute of Psychiatry, MH-CYP and NSW Ministry of Health and key community partners.The Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the planning, implementation and evaluation of School- Link initiatives in SESLHD in consultation with School-Link Advisory Committees, Mental Health and Community Health Services, Department of Education, Network Specialist Facilitator, Leader in Psychology Senior Psychology, Education, TAFEs, Sydney Catholic Schools and Independent Schools and relevant internal and external key community partners.Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.SESLHD is committed to creating a workplace that reflects the diversity of our community.   • Demonstrated experience in negotiating effectively with teams of health professionals, external key partners and working with schools.
  • Well-developed understanding of the interface between Health Services and schools with knowledge of State and National policy directions in child and adolescent Mental Health and of the NSW Mental Health and school welfare systems.
  • Knowledge and experience of Health Services for children and adolescents with emotional, behavioural and social problems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the concepts of promotion, prevention, early intervention and evidence based practice in Mental Health.
  • Proven experience in change management, planning, evaluation projects and experience in developing and implementation of educational programs
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and evaluation of School Link initiatives and identified school based training.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and written skills, computer and work processing skills
