About the role:
John Hunter Children’s Hospital is seeking a Senior Clinical Psychologist to lead a team of clinicians providing high-quality services to patients and families. This is a highly-skilled team, who have expertise in paediatric psychology, so your role would utilise your leadership and management skills to advocate for and support this team. Your guidance would allow impactful change to be implemented, shaping programs and guiding teams to enhance the well-being of patients and families!
In this role you will provide leadership to the team involving clinical support, people management, supervision and engagement in quality processes to ensure the delivery of quality services. Service delivery guidance and advice to Psychologists delivering services and high-quality care in JHCHs and community-based services and links with service to form part of holistic specialist multidisciplinary teams across a broad range of services.
Our Senior Clinical Psychologist provides an evidence-based psychological assessment, diagnosis and treatment to improve outcomes of patients and/or consumers and families/carers. The role will be actively involved in managing referral processes, reviewing service delivery and maintaining a clinical load.
Where you’ll be working:
- Based in Newcastle, the John Hunter Children's Hospital provides a variety of services including complex medical, surgical, major trauma and neonatal care services for Northern NSW. Being one of three children's hospitals in the state, they will see nearly 25,000 children and young people present to the emergency department, have 9,000 admitted to hospital and perform over 100,000 occasions of service through outpatient clinics.
- In our tight-knit team, we all work closely together. We share our different skills and ideas, which helps us come up with new and better ways to help our patients. You would be working with other Allied health professionals, as well as nursing and medical colleagues within the John Hunter Children's Hospital to provide holistic care to your patients. In this role you will be supported by the Director of Allied Health for CYPFS and the Manager of Community and Allied Health. Support is also gained from the other Services Managers within the JHCH Allied Health Department.

Requirements:
Our successful candidate will possess the following:
- Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate clinical psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent, displayed on the Psychology Board of Australia website.
- Generally registered as a clinical psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia with area of practice endorsement in clinical psychology with not less than 12 months full time equivalent on Year 5 of the Clinical Psychology pay scale.
