Job Description:

The HR Business Partner is responsible for defining and implementing the Human Resources (HR) Strategic Workforce Plan (SWP), encompassing all aspects of people planning, productivity and engagement. The HR Business Partner plays a leading role in the engagement, motivation and wellbeing of GeoUnit (Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste) staff and employees. As a Business Partner to the senior leadership, this person acts as advisor on all HR-related topics and provide coaching and mentoring.

Reporting to the GeoUnit HR Manager, this role will be partnering with senior stakeholders to provide expert support and advice in all areas of employee life cycle.  This role will also be responsible for implementing the HR plan and support relevant business area/s objectives. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the recruiting, staffing, training, career development, talent management, succession planning, compensation, and communication strategies for the GeoUnit.
  • Own the definition, implementation, and follow-up of the GeoUnit SWP to meet long-term business strategy requirements.
  • Develop and monitor resource planning to meet long-term technical and business requirements through the GeoUnit SWP.
  • Own and drive healthy development of employee potential and the GeoUnit talent pipeline through appraisals, career planning, career orientation, development and CLR reviews, employee development plans and succession plans, with particular emphasis on GeoUnit nationals including those working overseas.
  • As Business Partner to the GeoUnit leadership team, provide HR insights and innovative solutions to address business requirements.
  • Act as custodian for corporate values and HR principles, and be responsible for implementing and managing Schlumberger HR policies and procedures within the GeoUnit.
  • Act in partnership with the Operations System team as the driver for change management and organizational efficiency.
  • Oversee internal communication at all levels to improve the awareness and motivation of employees and teams.
  • Ensure optimal collaboration between GeoUnit HR team members and the Business Line and corporate HR teams.
  • Manage GeoUnit initiatives to improve social responsibility and gender balance.
  • Oversee recruiting of fresh outs and experienced professionals in accordance with Business Line and function plans.
  • Oversee training programs to develop functional, technical and leadership competencies.
  • Help optimize productivity among field resources through local actions to enable multiskilling, remote operations, and crew standardization.
  • Be responsible for the GeoUnit compensation strategy to ensure competitive practices while remaining cost effective and compliant with local regulations.
  • Be responsible for HR compliance matters. Investigate and close HR Function Managed Allegations (FMAs).

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Reside in Australia and have the full right to live and work in Australia.
  • No travel restrictions and open to relocation in Australia based on company’s requirement.
  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Human Resources or equivalent, and with minimum 5 years HR Manager experience including minimum 5 years’ experience in an autonomous generalist HR role in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • International HR experience supporting other countries will be highly regarded for this role, especially HR experience in New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. 
  • Proven strong experience in Industrial Relations.
  • A solid understanding of contemporary HR issues including Fair Work Act.
  • Highly competent computer skills with experience using Microsoft Office Suites, SAP and SuccessFactors.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, influencing and negotiation skill-sets.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • High integrity and strong work ethic.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities. 
  • Can work under high-pressure, learns quickly and adapts to new problems and situations.
  • Available to start as soon as possible.
