Our Client
Our client is located in a small, remote and beautiful part of the Western side of the Cape York Peninsula, providing a variety of services to the community including education, health and development and maintenance of roads and housing, etc.
The Opportunity
As HR Manager, you will be responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of all HR Management and training services to the Council. Responsibilities will include recruitment and selection, staff development and training, staff retention and workforce planning, performance management and dealing with misconduct, contract management, grievance management, supporting anti-discrimination and equal opportunity. You will be based permanently within the community.
Your Skills & Experience
- Tertiary Qualification in HRM, AHRI Certification or equivalent experience in Human Resources Management;
- Experience in successfully communicating, negotiating and interacting with Aboriginal people and demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal culture and customs;
- Demonstrated ability to undertake operational generalist HR duties plus provide strategic advice and guidance to senior management;
- Proven ability to develop effective and inclusive relations with Indigenous and / or diverse communities and stakeholder groups;
- A sound understanding of training and development including apprenticeships, traineeships, funding and Job Service Agencies;
- An ability to understand and interpret legislation and develop and interpret industrial instruments.
