Health and Safety Adviser required for East Brisbane construction site.
Opportunity to join a growing family owned and operated construction company. Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the health and safety standards are maintained across our construction site. This is a full-time permanent position offering valuable experience and growth opportunities within a supportive and collaborative work environment.
Responsibilities:
As a Safety Advisor, your responsibilities will include:
- Generating and maintaining all health and safety records identified for the site.
- Conducting daily walk-through inspections to ensure health and safety standards are maintained, with necessary actions taken.
- Conducting weekly site inspections
- Providing toolbox talks to employees and contractors on health and safety issues.
- Assisting in meeting health and safety objectives
- Setting up all site induction resources and conducting project site inductions.
- Reviewing subcontractor’s Safety Systems, including Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and issuing corrective actions for non-conformance of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) issues.
- Reporting performance to Site Manager, Safety Manager and Supervisor/s.
- Ensuring incident reports are entered onto the designated system.
- Develop strategies to reduce risk and provide expert advice.
- Assist in the safety inspections, interactions, audits and provide recommendations for improvements where required.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- Site-based construction experience in Australia on construction sites, (Commercial, High Rise or similar)
- Cert IV or above in Occupational Health & Safety
- Strong knowledge of subcontractor management and Australian safety regulations.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Construction White Card
- Knowledge of Hammertech and Procore desirable, not essential
- A thorough understanding of all relevant Health and Safety Legislation and Standards
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- A continuous improvement mindset and proactive approach to problem solving.
