Annual Salary Range
$85,000.00 - $95,000.00 plus superannuation depending on successful candidate.

Position PurposeAssist and support the Head of HSQE, the HSQE Manager and allocated Business Unit/s in delivering effective and efficient HSQE functions along with professional advice and guidance.
Reporting toHSQE Manager
Position Responsibilities- Support the overall implementation of the Keolis Downer Gold Coast’s (KDGC) HSQE scheduled deliverables.
- Provide accurate, HSQE advice to department Heads, Management teams and workers.
- Assist the HSQE Manager and the Senior HSQE Advisor in maintaining business processes to provide continued AS/NZ and ISO Certification.
- Assist in the monitoring of Safety and Environmental Legislative Changes and updating the Regulatory Compliance Register.
- Participate in risk assessment workshops as required.
- Assist in maintaining the KDGC Operational Risk Register as directed.
- Assist in conducting HSQE data analysis to identify potential trends.
- Assist in developing and implementing HSQE programs and strategies to improve workplace safety, safety culture and behavioural safety in conjunction with the Senior HSQE Advisor and the HSQE Manager.
- Assist in providing data for Monthly HSQE Progress and Zero Harm Reports as directed.
- Participate in HSQE driven change management processes (MOC), as required.
- Assist in developing / reviewing Safety training package content as directed.
- Coordinate and conduct drug and alcohol testing as required in accordance with the requirements of the Managing Alcohol and other Drugs procedure.
- Participate in incident investigations as may be required.
- Participate in weekly field safety inspections and safety engagements.
- Participate in contractor safety pre-qualification assessments.
- Develop and maintain a positive relationship with the Rail Transport Operator (GoldlinQ) and other key stakeholders.
- Participate in workplace inspections and audits in accordance with the KDGC Audit and Inspection Schedule, and as may be required.
- Work effectively on own initiative, planning and organising own workload with ability to make decisions without supervision whilst maintaining an overall team approach.
- Perform ad-hoc duties from time-to-time as required and directed by the HSQE Manager and/or Head of HSQE.
- Undertake tasks as allocated and scheduled in the KDGC Safety Plan.
Essential
- Qualification in Work Health and Safety (minimum Certificate IV in Occupational Health & Safety), or significant equivalent work experience in heavy industry.
- Good understanding of the requirements of WHS legislation (Qld) and associated Codes of Practice.
- Experience in the application of Work Health and Safety requirements in the workplace.
- Ability to proficiently use the Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Meet the medical requirements of Rail Safety Worker (RSW) Category 2.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to plan, organise and manage own workload to meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Be legally entitled to live and work in Australia.
Highly Desirable
- Diploma in Work Health and Safety or higher.
- Formal Environmental qualifications.
- Understanding of the requirements of the Rail Safety National Law (Qld).
- Experience in the application of the requirements of the Rail Safety National Law (Qld).
- Current Statement of Attainment in the nationally accredited unit of competency HLTPAT005 - Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing (Alcohol and other drugs testing).
- Understanding of passenger rail operations.
- Previous exposure and experience within the passenger transport industry.
- Internal Auditor qualification, or higher.
- Experience in auditing quality and/or safety management systems and/or environmental management systems.
- Qualification or experience in ICAM incident investigation.
