The Opportunity
This opportunity will see you step into the role of Civil Constructions Human Resources and Work Health and Safety Manager in a company committed to fostering a positive workplace culture.
As the accomplished candidate, you'll take the lead in shaping employee well-being, ensuring safety, and actively contributing to the overall growth and success of the organisation. Your role will be instrumental in influencing the Human Resourcesand Safety dynamics of civil construction projects, creating a work environment that not only prioritises safety and compliance but also promotes productivity and the well-being of valued employees.
The Role
- Develop and regularly update HR and WHS policies reflecting current laws and industry standards
- Facilitate effective recruitment, professional development, and retention strategies
- Build and nurture a positive workplace culture focused on collaboration, safety, and employee wellbeing
- Implement programs and initiatives that promote employee engagement and satisfaction
- Oversee communications related to HR, including newsletters, websites, and social media platforms, ensuring an attractive employer brand
- Actively engage with key stakeholders, including clients, employees, management, external partners, and regulatory bodies
- Ensure operational activities comply with legal and regulatory standards
- Develop and deliver Work Health and Safety training to enhance staff knowledge and compliance
- Support the Finance Manager with financial aspects of HR and WHS, including budgeting, forecasting, and fund allocation
For the ideal candidate, a minimum qualification of a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or its equivalent is required, and advanced training, such as a Diploma of Work Health and Safety or a Bachelor’s degree in Work Health, Safety, and Environmental Management, is preferred.
A solid background in Civil Engineering and related fields like Mines, Gas, and Energy is also highly desired, coupled with a nurturing personality essential for fostering a positive culture and ensuring employee well-being. Expertise in mental health is crucial due to the remote locations staff may encounter.
In addition to these qualifications, the role necessitates excellent interpersonal, communication, and computer literacy skills, as well as a strong analytical mindset, logical thinking, and creative reasoning abilities. The ideal candidate should possess professional integrity, a dedicated commitment to safety, and the capability to lead by example — strong traits for success in this role.
Salary / Rate
- Competitive salary of $150,000 - $160,000 (higher for the right candidate)
