Since 1973 Couper Air has designed heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems tailored to our client's individual needs for residential and commercial properties.
Our service department provides high level service and comprehensive preventative maintenance contracts to residential, commercial, and industrial properties throughout Melbourne and surrounding suburbs.
We have an opportunity for a self motivated and experiences HVAC Service Manager to be part of the Couper Air family. You will work closely with the business owners, with a supportive administration team, and a team of service technicians and apprentices.
About the role
Roles and responsibilities of the Service Manager include:
- Delegating and directing service tasks, monitoring the progress of current projects, and managing service team members to ensure the team's objectives and goals are met.
- Handling customer complaints or concerns quickly and professionally to maintain good customer relationships and ensure repeat customers.
- Preparation of quotes such as:
- service maintenance contracts
- repairs and replacement of parts
- replacement and upgrade of installed equipment
- Provide Technical advice and problem solving to service technicians to get equipment operational as quickly as possible
- Resolving service desk problems and improving service methods to increase the service desk's productivity and customer service.
- Monitoring department issues and client complaints to create methods to lessen recurring issues.
- Auditing work and customer service to ensure the company's high standards, efficiency, and productivity goals are met.
- Maintaining strong relationships with manufacturers, dealers, and sales representatives.
- Helping to train new employees in company procedures.
- Maintaining a strong working knowledge of industry regulations, restrictions, and laws, ensuring the company's adherence to these regulations, and remaining current on the industry's standards and new innovations, materials, tools, and processes
The Service Manager should display a strong sales-minded attitude as well as excellent leadership skills, and technical knowledge. They should also have the ability to develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with staff, customers and third-party vendors.

Skills and experience
- Strong industry knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration
- Excellent management, leadership, communication, sales and customer service skills.
- Computer literacy and good organisational skills
- Strong creative thinking and problem solving skills
- The ability to work under pressure and handle stress.
- Qualified Air conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic
- Full Refrigerant Handling licence
- Restricted Electrical Worker’s licence (REL) with ESV
- Preference provided to applicants registered/Licensed with the VBA for Refrigerated Air Conditioning and/or Mechanical Services work
- Ability to manage staff and committed to training and fostering their skill development.
