About Brisbane 2032
The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (the “Games”) will be the largest event in South-East Queensland’s history, with the potential to deliver transformational change to our region. As the name suggests, the Brisbane Organising Committee for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (“Brisbane 2032”) is responsible for organising the Games. Some of Brisbane 2032’s operational responsibilities include: raising revenue through sponsorship, ticketing and the sale of Brisbane 2032 merchandise, sourcing the goods and services required to deliver the Games, managing the temporary overlay and operation of the venues and recruiting thousands of volunteers as well as many other elements that are essential in staging a world class global sporting event.

About the Position
The In-house Lawyer will provide specialist legal support to Brisbane 2032. The role will initially report directly to the Director of Legal however reporting lines may change as the organisation scales.
The successful candidate will initially work within a small team to meet the legal needs of the business. There will be a significant range of activities as the organisation builds and prepares for the Games, and this will be reflected in the variety of work that forms the day to day of the In-house Lawyer.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Providing accurate, fit for purpose and timely legal advice to functional areas.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various commercial contracts and agreements.
- Procuring and overseeing provision of specialist advice from external legal providers.
- Assisting with legal related projects such as development of templates and processes.
- Assisting with the management of Brisbane 2032’s compliance activities and obligations.
- Providing contract management and basic dispute support as required.
- Liaising with external parties on legal matters or matters where legal support is required.
- Designing and delivering legal and compliance training to Brisbane 2032 personnel.
- Strong team player who is happy to work in what will initially be a small collegiate team and then scale to a large and complex team as the organisation grows.
- Minimum 3 - 5 years’ post admission experience.
- Experience delivering to deadlines in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
- Demonstrated ability in running matters from start to finish and with minimal supervision.
- Proven commercial acumen and negotiation skills and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to find solutions and work with clients to get outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability in building and maintain strong working relationships.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and process driven.
- Highly competent in Microsoft suite – Word, Excel, Powerpoint. Experience in Monday or similar online matter management systems will be highly regarded.
