About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Government Relations and Public Policies this role is responsible for coordinating the progression and delivery of reconciliation initiatives within Fremantle Ports’ Reconciliation Action Plan. The role will also assist in increasing the organisation’s understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories and taking a lead role to establish and maintain relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The Indigenous Relations Officer role is available to candidates interested in either Part-Time or Full-Time hours.
Key duties include:
- Coordinates the progression and delivery of initiatives in the Reconciliation Action Plan.
- Drive the successful adoption of RAP initiatives using effective change management processes.
- Establish and strengthen mutually beneficial relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders and like-minded organisations on matters relating to the organisation’s RAP.
- Work closely with internal (such as People & Culture and Procurement) and external stakeholders to deliver initiatives that increase economic participation, training, employment opportunities and retention.
- Provide advice and reports to the executive and management teams and Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group (RAPWG) on the progress of initiatives.
Skills and Experience
- Proven track record of developing and successfully implementing reconciliation initiatives within organisations.
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and businesses growing cultural knowledge and capabilities within organisations.
- Understanding of the social and economic issues impacting Noongar people and communities in WA.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills including report writing and ability to write business cases.
- Developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to work cooperatively with others at all levels and to operate on a consultative basis.
