About the role:
In this newly created position, you will play an integral part of Mackay Regional Council's passionate and energetic Employee Relations team, which sits within the broader Human Resources department. The ER/IR team consists of a Coordinator, three specialised Advisors, an Employee Relations Officer and administrative support.
As an Industrial Relations Advisor, you will be responsible for negotiating and managing Industrial Relations matters within the organisation.
Key responsibilities:
- Play a pivotal role in negotiating and bargaining agreements
- Facilitate productive discussions with unions
- Provide coaching and support to employees and leaders across Council on matters related to interpretations, pay claims and disparities
- Work closely with the bargaining group in the negotiation process for the upcoming agreement
- Stay informed on Queensland industrial and employee relations legislation and regulations
- Collaborate with other Advisors on performance management practices, as needed
- Demonstrated expertise in Industrial Relations
- Comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation and regulations
- Tertiary qualifications in HR, Law, or related disciplines preferred
- Exceptional coaching and communication abilities
- Demonstrated capability to exercise initiative, judgment, confidentiality, tact, and discretion
- Proven track record in successful bargaining
- Possession of QLD "C" class driver's license or equivalent
