The City of Fremantle’s Infrastructure Engineering Team is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, experienced, and highly organised Engineering Technical Officer. Reporting to the Senior Traffic and Transport Engineer and working with a multi – disciplinary team the role provides support for Capital Works projects in the investigation, evaluation and design stages. Focusing on assistance with Traffic and Drainage related projects. Key responsibilities include:Prepare detailed high standard construction design drawings for Capital Workers Programs in relation to, but not limited to, roads, drainage, cycling, car parking and traffic calming. Assess and develop the City’s drainage data by assisting the asset management team in resourcing the collection of asset data. Complete technical design and analysis of drainage works through, Flood Risk Assessments for Planning Applications, Surface Water Management Plans and Drainage Impact Assessments. Perform hydraulic calculation and stormwater design and assist in composing and preparation of hydraulic reports for City projects. Provide professional support to the Engineering Design Team by arranging traffic counts, assessments and by maintaining traffic data. Assist in the development of infrastructure funding applications. Attend community precinct meetings and information sessions assisting other members of staff or external consultants with community consultation when requested. The desired applicant will be able to demonstrate strong problem solving and analytical skills to design municipal infrastructure projects such as road, drainage, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, local area traffic management and car park layouts. You will be familiar with applicable standards relating to road and drainage works with attention to Local Government applications. You will be required to use a suite of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD products at an advanced level. It is encouraged to address this through examples of your experience in the application.A valid construction awareness card (white card) and C class drivers licence is required. Desirable skills include previous local government experience and asset management or project management exposure.
