About the Role

The purpose of the Injury Management and Wellbeing Manager is to be the strategic thought leader and subject matter expert for all Injury Management, workers compensation and wellbeing strategies at Baptcare. The Injury Management and Wellbeing Manager has an advanced knowledge of the Victorian Workers Compensation Scheme and experience in coordinating and aligning Agent claims and Employer RTW strategies to improve performance across the $13 million portfolio of claims. The position is also responsible for the effective implementation of the Employee Assistance Program, Early Intervention Program, Vaccination Program, and other programs for the Enterprise.

Key Duties:

  • Lead and manage the Injury Management, Workers Compensation and Wellbeing Team fostering a positive and high- performance team environment,
  • Provide team advice, coaching and support to enhance collaboration and team outcomes
  • Develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships that enable successful engagement across Baptcare.
  • Overall accountability for Injury Management, workers compensation across Baptcare, including but not limited to:
    • Aligning Agent Claims and Employer RTW Strategies
    • Providing SME advice and support to operational leaders, including their legal obligations
    • Managing internal investigations related to workers compensation claims.
    • Providing common law claims defence support to external legal firms acting on behalf of WorkSafe
    • Ensuring employees receive weekly compensation entitlements in accordance with legal obligations and in collaboration with payroll.
    • Effective and timely implementation of re-imbursement processes
    • Effective implementation of the Early Intervention Program
    • Maintenance of accurate Injury Management records in the Solv (Injury Management) database
    • Administration of the Solv Database
  • Overall Responsibility for Wellbeing Programs across Baptcare, including but not limited to:
    • Employee Assistance Program
    • Annual Vaccination Program
    • RUOK Day
  • Continuous improvement of all Injury Management, workers compensation and wellbeing services across the enterprise
  • Account management for all external partners/contractors in the delivery of Injury Management, workers compensation and wellbeing services
  • Maintenance of policies and procedures in line with legislative and business requirements that relate to Injury Management, workers compensation and wellbeing.
  • Operate at all times in ways that demonstrate and exemplify Baptcare’s values

About You:

  • 10+ years’ experience in an employer-based Injury Management or workers compensation role within the Victorian workers compensation jurisdiction.
  • 5+ years leadership experience of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Injury management and wellbeing program implementation and change management experience
  • Based in Melbourne and ability to attend the head office in Camberwell (min. 3 days per week) and travel to sites as required.
  • Experience in the Tasmanian and South Australian workers compensation jurisdictions is desirable but not essential.
  • Tertiary qualification in business or allied health qualification is desirable but not essential
