Contract role working for the Department of Defence's R&D division, DSTG in Edinburgh SA. For an Electronics Laboratory Technician or Electronics Engineer interested in a career defining project to prototype explosive ordinances for the army by designing, constructing and testing sensor and data capture systems

This role would suit either someone fresh from TAFE with qualifications in electronics. or a fresh graduate with a PhD in Physics or Engineering who is “between jobs
The Instrumentation Technicians will, under direction, undertake the following major duties:
1.Participate in the specification, acquisition and setup of sensors, data acquisition, processing and recording equipment. This includes design, construction and testing of sensor and data capture systems.
2.Assist in the development of data acquisition aspects of the design of experiments.
3.Set up and use high speed photo instrumentation equipment and assist in imagery analysis and interpretation.
4.Participate in the setting up and the conduct of experiments and trials with energetic materials in laboratories, specialist test facilities and outdoor ranges.
5.Use knowledge of sensors and data systems to assist in the interpretation and reporting of captured data from weapons and explosives trials.
6.Assist in the maintenance of laboratories and equipment including calibration You'll be working with the R&D department for the Department of Defence (Defence Science Technology Group, DTSG) in Edinburgh.
DSTG is currently supporting research into guided weapons prototyping.
