About the role
This position is a part time role in the Insurance and Risk Management team, based at the Moruya Administration Office. The successful candidate will provide efficient and effective administration for the team, administer Insurance and public liability enquiries and claims, ensuring that Council meets its statutory obligations.
Your main duties will include:
- Provide administration assistance, including data entry, correspondence, scanning and filing information into the electronic records system.
- Administer Council’s insurance claims and public liability claims, including lodging and investigating these claims.
- Receive telephone and written enquiries from customers and claimants and provide responses.
- Calculate and issue settlement and excess payments for Insurance and public liability claims to repairers, insurers, and claimants.
- Provide administration assistance with the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC) meetings and agendas, risk assessments and Risk data base.
Total remuneration for the role is in the range $40.46 to $44.42 gross per hour consisting of:
- $36.45 to $40.02 base salary
- $4.01 to $4.40 superannuation (at 11%)

You will be an administration guru with an ability to work autonomously and to a high level. Your attention to detail and time management skills will be second to none and you will enjoy using your judgement to make decisions about liability for claims. What will set you apart from the rest is knowledge of insurance claims processes.

- Strong computer literacy skills (MS Office Suite/ word processing/ spreadsheets/ databases) and accurate data entry skills.
- Sound literacy skills including reading, writing, understanding written information and ability to complete work-related forms.
- Sound oral and written communication skills, including professional manner dealing with the public and external contacts (e.g. claimants, insurers and repairers).
- Ability to complete set tasks to deadlines and to show initiative when required.
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
