The role
You will oversee the planning, coordination, development, and management of the IPL Group’s global comprehensive insurance program. This pivotal role involves evaluating risks, implementing effective insurance strategies, and ensuring compliance with both regulatory requirements and company policies. The primary objective is to protect the organisation from potential financial losses, all the while optimising insurance coverage and minimising costs. The position involves the provision of strategic advice on all insurance matters. This role is a key contributor to the overarching strategy and culture of the IPL business. It requires collaboration with a broad range of business leaders and their teams and effective engagement with external stakeholders. Additional Accountabilities:
- Co-ordinate internally (both legal and commercial) any claims issues across the different insurance policies.
- Collate underwriting information from Group operations and prepare underwriting submissions.
- Sell the Group’s risk to the underwriting community by delivering insurance marketing presentations to incumbent and alternative insurers.
- Procure optimum insurer, coverage and pricing outcomes.
- Oversee authorisation, payment and issuance of all documentation.
- Act as the contact point between IPL’s insurance captives and the business units, including the renewal of policies and captive strategy.
- Provide input into the development of a long-term insurance strategy across all different classes both on a strategic and tactical basis.
- Ensure workers compensation cover is placed according to the different state legislation and requirements at the applicable rates.
- Reviewing contracts.
- Develop, foster and periodically test relationships with key insurance markets.
- Develop project specific insurances.
- Advise on solutions to protect specific risk issues.
- Engage actively with business units on insurance coverage and claims to identify issues and address the needs identified.
