About the Role:
The position will be reporting to our Senior Accountant, this full-function accounting role will support the day-to-day operation of the business. This role will involve the following duties but not limited to:
- Completing year-end Financial Accounts and Income tax returns and advised on tax issues to clients both individuals and companies
- Management Reporting -Daily/Monthly/Quarterly/Half-Yearly, including projected statements.
- Preparing trial balance, and reviewing all asset, liability, expense and income general ledger accounts. Proving variance analysis and providing commentary on financial figures
- Posting monthly journals for payroll cost, employee superannuation and PAYG withholding tax, salary sacrifice, commissions and employee termination payment
- Structuring accounting entries, compliance-based auditing, producing accounting information and record-keeping
- Provided services to clients such as preparing Business Activity Statements (BAS), GST returns, PAYG Reports, and handled disputes with taxation authorities etc.
- Establishing and keeping accounting systems, and recommending the selection and application of computer-based accounting systems
- Implementation and administering accounting information systems of Xero.
Additional responsibilities:
- Work closely with the team leader, Manager, and Director to complete assignments accurately, according to the firm’s operational manual and standards.
- Ensure work is completed within the specified time frame and alert the Manager where a job is at risk of falling behind schedule prior to the deadline.
- Work towards finding solutions for what you don’t know and ask the questions necessary to complete work on time.
- Work as a team with all team members of the firm and value the individual contributions and abilities of your colleagues.
About the opportunity and skills:
You will be required to have the following skills in order to perform in this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or assistant accountant.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
