As an intern with the Power Systems Engineering team at Tesla, you will support a function playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of Australia's energy landscape. Power Systems Engineering specialise in the National Electricity Market (NEM) connection studies, leveraging expertise to integrate battery energy storage systems into the grid. In this intern role, you'll have a unique opportunity to support Power Systems Engineering with negotiating Generator Performance Standards (GPS) with Network Service Providers (NSP) and the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), ensuring compliance and operational excellence. This role is crucial in driving our commitment to sustainable energy solutions and grid reliability.
Support NEM connection studies to assess the impact of new generators on the power system's stability and reliability.
Test newly developed Python automation tools for connection studies.
Support preparation of technical reports and documentation for stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
Experience in Power Systems Engineering, with a focus on NEM connection studies and grid integration of renewable energy sources, highly advantageous
Beginner understanding of Australian energy market regulations, grid codes, and technical standards.
Advantageous to have some proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., PSCAD, PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
Experience in Python scripting.
