About your new role

In your new position, you will join a team tasked with managing Invasive Animals that pose a threat to the biosecurity of our City. The role requires specific knowledge and skills to develop and implement monitoring and control programs for multiple invasive animal species.  The role is also critical to achieving key actions within our City’s organisational strategies and conservation plans to reduce invasive animal impacts.  This role requires occasional work afterhours and on weekends.

We're looking for people who have:

  • A Certificate IV in Conservation and Ecosystem Management or equivalent knowledge and demonstrated experience in a relevant field.  
  • Extensive experience in the development and implementation of integrated invasive animal management programs.  
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that enable you to liaise with and provide technical advice to internal and external stakeholders.   
  • A safety-first mindset that will contribute to and promote a safe working environment by assessing and mitigating risks whist adhering to legislation and Council’s policies.   
  • The skills to contribute to a positive team culture whilst working both in a small team and autonomously in remote areas.   
  • Experience prioritising tasks and manage conflicting priorities skilfully according to biosecurity, environmental and public risk. 
  • A good working knowledge of the Biosecurity Act 2014
