The Role
The Investment Analyst will assist the Senior Manager in managing the International Shares sector, in achieving our performance, risk, fee and carbon objectives.
The Investment Analyst will assist in collecting and interpreting data; building and maintaining sophisticated models for analysis of company, sector, size, country and style sections of the portfolio; preparing written reports and presentations; and summarising the results of analytic studies. The role will also include reading, drafting and amending various legal agreements.
Key focus areas include:
- Understanding the positioning and exposures of the International Equity sector by manager, style, size, carbon intensity and other ESG factors
- Establishing favourable relationships with the other teams within the Fund, investment managers, vendors and consultants to fully leverage their capabilities and maximise cost-efficiency
- Promptly assisting with the preparation of meeting notes, investment reports and the completion of data requests for key internal and external stakeholders of the Fund
- Assisting the Senior Manager with implementing rebalancing decisions in a timely and cost-effective manner; with selection including meeting with candidate managers and utilising databases to identify and source high calibre managers; and in drafting and amending investment management agreements (IMAs)
- Performing independent fundamental and ESG analysis on companies held within the International Shares sector
You have
- Bachelor’s degree and post-graduate qualifications (or currently undertaking study) at an appropriate level in a finance discipline e.g. CFA, Actuarial Studies, B.Acc, B.Com, B Econ etc.
- 3+ years’ experience within asset management or broking, together with a demonstrated interest in superannuation, investing and analysis of investment opportunities
- Robust qualitative and quantitative analytical skills with advanced competencies in working in Excel
- Knowledge of international stock markets, indices and style factors
- Experience with programming languages such as R and/or Python
Desirable
- Knowledge and experience of using portfolio tools such as Style Analytics, Bloomberg and eVestment
- Knowledge and experience of analysing the climate transition plans and ESG policies of listed companies and / or Fund Managers
- Interest in renewable and sustainable investment practices
