ABOUT PACIFIC TRADE INVEST AUSTRALIA
Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) Australia is the Pacific lead trade and investment promotion agency. PTI Australia develops and promotes businesses and people from the Pacific through trade, investment and tourism.
At the core of PTI Australia’s work is improving the livelihoods of Pacific people by enabling decent work and economic growth in the Blue Pacific.
PTI Australia is part of the global PTI Network with offices in China, Europe, Japan, and New Zealand. The Networks mandate is driven by the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS), supporting the 16 Forum countries from the Blue Pacific: Cook Islands, Fiji, French Polynesia, FSM, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, New Caledonia, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
PTI Australia is an agency of Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS), funded by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage PTI Australia’s Investment facilitation strategy and implementation.
- Achieve A$10 million in investment deals annually.
Technical
- Assist to identify and develop investment ready projects across the PIC’s.
- Identification of investors, with particular emphasis on tourism, agri, renewables, green energy, carbon capture, ethical and impact.
- Provide investment sector and market information to assist PIC investees and Australian investors.
- Knowledge of the latest financial instruments, funds, and innovations particularly in areas such as agri, green energy investment, carbon sequestration, infrastructure, Impact and ethical investing, and value chain investing.
- Promote Climate Finance opportunities.
Plan, Monitor and support programs and projects.
- Research, analyse and interpret current and emerging investment issues and trends.
- Assist with the implementation and coordination of market related initiatives such as investment missions, conferences, and other events that lead to successful outcomes.
- Plan, manage, contract management (service providers) and reporting.
- Provide high quality advice and support to other PTI business units.
- Work in collaboration with other PTI Investment Managers and attend PTI Network Investment Committee meetings.
- Work in partnership with the Trade Commissioner
Develop and sustain productive stakeholder relationships.
- Identify and recruit new investment ready opportunities.
- Maintain and service existing PTI Australia investees, investors, and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with all PTI colleagues in Australia and overseas.
- Assist, establish, maintain, and leverage strong international relationships and networks to drive investment attraction.
- Represent PTI at conferences, forums, donors, officials, and ministerial meetings.
External and Internal Communications
- Contributing to the scoping and preparation of project plans, written reports, and client resources material.
- Work closely with PTI Communications Manager.
- Contribute to Investment section of the PTI website.
- Maintain and manage PTI Investment directory.
- Coordinate planning and reporting across PTI.
Other duties
- Strong Business Development (BD) focus
- Provide regular updates as it pertains to Investment work.
- Ensure PTI Client Relationship Management System (CRM) is always updated.
- Obtain agreed number of Client Satisfaction surveys.
- Stay abreast with global, regional, local and industry developments.
- Assist selected PIC investees to develop investment ready proposals.
- Undertake business support activities such as travel bookings, administration, reporting and general logistical support to ensure smooth operation of the office of the Trade Commissioner
- Other duties as required by the Trade Commissioner

- Be a self-starter, proactive, and have a positive attitude.
- Possess an outstanding track record in achieving business outcomes, exceeding business objectives, and supporting senior management.
- Has outstanding communications skills.
- Has demonstrated project management experience and thrives in high pressure environment where there are often competing priorities, tight timeframes, and tight budget.
- Candidates with trade facilitation and investment promotion experience between Australia and the Pacific will be held in high regard.
- Understanding the broader concept of aid for trade and the impact private sector growth has on development in the Pacific.
- Ability to represent PTI at the highest level across wide range of stakeholders.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills with a proven ability to prepare and deliver presentations, correspondence, and briefing materials.
- Good Organisation skills including ability to work under pressure and mange a range of priorities to meet competing deadlines.
- Relevant international experience or exposure, which may include professional services or commercial business.
- Strong data gathering, analytical and research skills together with proven ability to identify trends/issues and suggest practical solutions/recommendations.
- Must be able to legally work in Australia.
- Role is based in Sydney.
