Assistant Farm Manager - Irrigated Cropping
South Bunarba Agriculture is a family owned broad acre and irrigated farming operation with properties in the Mungindi region of northern NSW.
We farm 1,800ha of irrigation, growing cotton, wheat, chickpeas and mungbeans along with 11,000ha of dryland crops consisting of wheat, barley, faba beans, chickpeas, cotton and sorghum. We have a passion for agriculture and seeing people develop their skills and progress their careers within the agricultural sector.
We have an opportunity for someone to take the next step in their career in an Assistant Manager position on our Irrigated Cropping enterprise.
This opportunity would suit someone with experience in irrigated broad acre agriculture and a desire to be involved with management of a professional, progressive farming business.
You would work with a team of 12-14 full time staff with up to 40 people working on farm during peak periods. The position reports to the Irrigation Manager and the Assistant Manager would be responsible for overseeing and mentoring junior staff.
South Bunarba Agriculture utilises a modern fleet of mainly John Deere and Goldacres equipment with Greenstar RTK guidance. The irrigation enterprise operates across four properties east of Mungindi in the Border Rivers and Gwydir valleys. Cotton is the predominant irrigated crop with wheat grown in rotation and opportunistic crops such as mungbeans grown as water availability allows. All irrigation is on a recirculated flood furrow system with machinery operations on a 2m controlled traffic system. Agronomic advice is provided by an independent agronomist. We participate in industry benchmarking to measure and continuously improve our performance.
This position is well remunerated, and comes with a modern 4 bedroom, air-conditioned, heated house with unlimited high speed Wi-Fi included in the salary package. Schooling from preschool (3+) to year 12 is available in Mungindi, 30km from the property, with a school bus to the farm gate. Opportunities for further study or development of skills will be made available to the successful candidate.
