About the opportunity:
Federal government Department seeking an Asset Manager. This role is crucial in ensuring efficient and effective management of information technology assets. This role involves overseeing the business processes as part of a broader team for acquisition, deployment, utilisation, and disposal of IT assets to support the department's financial requirements and operational objectives.
Responsibilities:
• Identify, evaluate, and procure IT assets and equipment required by various teams.
• Develop and maintain an accurate inventory of all IT assets, including hardware, software, licenses, and peripherals.
• Coordinate the deployment of IT assets to relevant departments, ensuring optimal utilisation and adherence to organisational policies and standards.
• Implement strategies for the lifecycle management of IT assets, including tracking warranties, licenses, and maintenance contracts to ensure timely renewals and replacements.
• Establish mechanisms for tracking and monitoring the usage, location, and condition of IT assets throughout their lifecycle.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with IT asset management, including potential security vulnerabilities, operational disruptions, and financial implications.
• Negotiate contracts, resolve issues, and optimise service delivery related to IT asset management.
• Provide training and awareness programs to staff on IT asset management best practices, policies, and procedures.
• Prepare regular reports and analysis on IT asset inventory, utilisation, costs, and compliance for management review and decision-making.
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated the following experience:
1. Several years of experience in IT asset management, procurement, or related roles, preferably in a government or large organisation.
2. Strong understanding of IT asset lifecycle management principles, processes, and tools. - Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
3. Proven ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
4. Certification in IT asset management (e.g., CMDB, ITIL) is a plus.
