Symbio Laboratories is a leading provider of commercial analytical testing services to the food, agricultural, water, environmental and pharmaceutical industries. The IT Service Desk & Facilities Officer is part of a small and dedicated IT team that provides hardware, network, software and business application support to staff nationwide.
The key duties of this role include:
- Providing generalised IT support to all staff, including both software and hardware repairs & replacements,
- Investigating and solving user problems with reasonable timeframes,
- Liaising with users and troubleshoot issues through face to face contact, phone, email or remotely accessing their systems,
- Maintaining all case/issue history within our helpdesk ticketing system, as well as planning and prioritising tickets to minimise backlog and ensure operational efficiency,
- Resolving hardware issues with desktops, printers, instruments, etc.
- Diagnosing and resolving technical software issues,
- Maintaining IT asset log and documenting operational procedures,
- Assisting the CIO and the System Administrator with daily maintenance issues.
- Identifying and taking steps to resolve any hazards, accidents or injuries,
- Arranging quotes for services, repairs and new installations,
- Overseeing routine maintenance of gardening and cleaning matters,
- Maintain facility keys, fobs, and list of emergency service providers,
- Coordinating with the Symbio Safety team and managing the fire alarm system.
🚨 Outside-of-hours (On Call) duties:
- Act as contact person for building related issues and coordinate with service providers for repairs.
- Respond to any emergency breakdowns whilst minimising company down time.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role you will possess the following personal and technical capabilities:
- IT qualification or equivalent experience,
- 1-2 years in an IT Helpdesk role (or similar),
- Adept at troubleshooting and diagnostics;
- Ability to work under pressure & balance multiple tasks,
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal,
- Strong problem solving and time management skills;
- Experience with Hyper-V Cluster, Windows Active Directory, MS Exchange on-prem, AD Azure and DUO MFA, Cisco networking, DFS, Ubiquiti Unifi, MS RDS Farm, Office 365, Veeam Backup, pfsense firewall, and storage;
- Flexibility to work after hours when required (On Call).
Exposure to Laboratory Information Management Systems and other lab processes will be highly regarded.
