Overview of position
The IT Support Officer will support the Senior IT Support Officer in all aspects of maintaining Vaxxas’ IT infrastructure. This role is a combination of hands on technical, project coordination, and customer service.
Essential duties & responsibilities
- Serving as the first point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance over the phone or email.
- Ensure accurate logging of all requests/calls.
- Troubleshooting and resolution of a variety of technical issues including, but not limited to, networks, client/server systems, PC’s, desktop application software, and peripheral devices.
- Install or assist employees in installation of hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards and printers.
- Coordinate the helpdesk and prioritise tickets for the managed service provider.
- Ensure the smooth functioning of all client facing IT infrastructure such as meeting rooms and printers.
Required capabilities
- Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of IT, Computer Science or relevant field (desirable).
- 2+ years of current Help Desk or IT experience required (not essential, but highly desirable).
- Excellent knowledge of computer systems, mobile devices and other technical products.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues.
- Proven experience as a help desk technician or other IT customer support role.
- Tech savvy with working knowledge of office automation products, databases and remote control.
- Consistently demonstrate a positive and professional attitude with a high level of management and peer group cooperation.
Selection criteria
- Excellent technical knowledge and ability to communicate effectively to diagnose the issue and explain its solution.
- Demonstrated experience in a customer-facing role.
- Well-developed problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently and manage work priorities to meet competing deadlines.
