The RoleThe Tuberculosis Research Group at the Centenary Institute in association with the University of Sydney is seeking to hire a Post-Doctoral Research Officer to investigate the immune response induced by specific adjuvant and antigen formulations against Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection in a mouse model. This is part a program on “Advancing Vaccine Adjuvant Research for Tuberculosis” funded by the National Institutes of Health (USA). The research focuses on a head-to-head analysis of cellular immune and transcriptional responses after vaccination and protective efficacy against M. tuberculosis infection. The work is in association with similar studies by international collaborators using animal models and human studies.Successful candidates will work within a highly interactive group of world-renowned scientists investigating multiple infectious diseases of human importance and vaccine development. The Tuberculosis Research Group includes immunologists, drug and vaccine developers, animal modelers, microbiologists and clinicians.The position provides an excellent opportunity to experience multi-national collaborations and an understanding of the requirements for vaccine development.About You:
- PhD in Immunology and/or Microbiology or equivalent is essential.
- Experience in cellular immunological studies, including cytometry, in vitro assays, and transcriptomic analysis.
- Experience with infection studies in small animals and animal handling.
- Basic knowledge of computer software required to perform tasks to achieve experimental outcomes.
- Experience working in a Physical Containment 3 (Biosafety Level 3) laboratory.
- Post-doctoral experience in immunology and/or vaccine development.
