About the Role:
Are you’re a Junior Category Manager or Senior Buying Assistant looking to take the step into category management we are looking for someone that is strategically minded and likes to bring innovation and newness to life. We currently have a role available in our Merchandise team to come in and make a real impact in one of our most pivotal Categories. Working closely with the Marketing team, you will make a real difference to the overall go to market position within these categories.
Your aim will be to develop and execute strategies to achieve sales and margin budgets for the category. Utilising your skill as an expert in the end-to-end process of buying, knowledge of product strategy as well as your drive and tenacity, you can truly make this your category.
Some of the other key responsibilities will include:
- Identifying key market trends
- Sourcing quality and value for money appropriate category products generally from overseas suppliers
- Developing new and innovative products in conjunction with suppliers
- Developing effective training programs to ensure the staff in-store are the most knowledgeable experts in Australia.
Skills & Experience:
- Over 3 years buying assistant or category management experience.
- Get excited about numbers.
- Regard success as overachieving sales and profit budgets.
- A passion for range planning and strategy development.
- An interest in overseas sourcing and importing.
- Managing supplier relationships and trading terms.
- Excel skills are a must.
