The Old Synagogue in Freo is seeking an Junior Sous Chef to assist an already accomplished team and help take the reins of this thriving hospitality business.
The Old Synagogue has four stylistically different venues under one incredible roof - one kitchen to service them all!
Open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner - 7 days a week!
Servicing over 4,000 covers a week, there is never a dull moment.
We are looking for an individual up for a challenge and wanting to further their career with a progressive, locally owned company.
In conjunction with Head Chef & the Sous Chef you will be given the opportunity to take leadership and assist with the venues food offerings.
Tonic + Ginger is the flagship modern Asian restaurant with 120 seats and quick service. With the menu broken down into bite, grazing, feasting & dessert using a variety of local produce to showcase our chef team's talents.

The Arbor offers more traditional pub fare and Mr Chapple & L'Chaim serving a reduced version share style dishes.
Key skill requirements...
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as Sous Chef (or above) in a fast paced, high volume kitchen
- Drive customer satisfaction by delivering an exceptional and consistent food product
- Assist with development of seasonal menus, activation and event packages
- Demonstrate a hands-on, inspirational leadership style across all service areas and shifts
- Effectively collaborate, communicate and coordinate with venue management and work collaboratively with all areas of the business - including Functions & Events, Marketing and Finance
The role come with autonomy and incredible opportunity with a big team in a fast-paced kitchen. Progression will be highly encouraged with two new venues opening 2023.
