Our client is a well-established, privately owned importer and distributer of internal and external Timber Building Products, who have been operating for more than three decades. The company operates through a national network of distribution centres and their expanding product range can be purchased from Bunnings (retail and trade) and many independent timber and hardware suppliers throughout Australia. Currently, there is an exciting opportunity to join the organisation in the role of QLD Key Account Manager.
The role
Reporting to the National Trade Sales Manager, the position will focus on the acquisition and ongoing management of trade clients from Northern NSW to north QLD. More specifically, you will be involved in the following;
- Developing a comprehensive territory and customer management plan to achieve sales and growth targets;
- Developing close working relationships with current and prospective clients to drive new business;
- Identifying opportunities and performing joint sales calls / presentations with trade partners to drive new business growth with residential and commercial builders;
- Working closely with internal stake holders and departments including marketing, operations new product development;
- Keeping up to date and accurate customer records and provide management with regular market intelligence and reports;
- Assist in the development of budgets, while also achieving personal sales targets and KPI's; and
- Attending relevant industry functions and events.
Necessary Skills / Experience
- Five plus years' experience in a similar Territory Manager or Account Manager role within the building / industrial products or consumer goods area;
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in timber or the general Building Products sector would be an advantage;
- Prior experience in a trade channel sales role working with Bunnings Trade or IHG would also be an asset;
- Well-developed planning, prioritising and time management skills;
- Customer focused with strong relationship building skills and a passion for driving new business and the ongoing growth of accounts;
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and individually;
- Well developed computer skills with a working knowledge of modern CRM's and the MS suite;
- Proven ability to understand and analyse sales performance metrics with a focus on complex problem solving; and
- Willing and able to travel throughout the territory which will require approximately 4-5 nights away per month.
