The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Key Stakeholder and Engagement Officer to join our team and support the goals of Housing Choices Australia Ltd and support our Quality and Safeguarding Plan.  In this role, you will be critical in fostering positive relationships and effective communication between our organisation and people with disability, their families, and advocates.  You will engage with Key Stakeholders, provide information related to their tenancies, gather feedback, address concerns, and collaborate on initiatives that promote strong relationships and uphold residents' right to live safely while maintaining choice and control in their lives.

This role would ideally suit someone who is experienced and passionate about client engagement and building key relationships with clients and their families to gain critical knowledge about their needs and aspirations and share those insights with the teams to improve the quality of our services to residents. You would also be comfortable and confident representing HCA in various external advocacy forums, building valuable partnerships with various bodies, and upskilling the team about new insights you gain from stakeholder engagement. 

We seek a team-oriented individual who is keen to learn, develop, and support other team members and willing to travel. The company has a flexible/hybrid work policy with five weeks of annual leave to improve employee well-being and genuine opportunities for further learning and development. 

The role is ongoing full-time and based in Melbourne, with availability to travel to Geelong and other sites as required.

About You:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in field (e.g., Social Work, Disability Studies, Public Health) desirable.
  • Experience in engaging with clients , families, and advocates to understand their needs, concerns, and feedback.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities and knowledge of disability rights, quality, and safeguarding principles.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills and ability to build rapport quickly build positive rapport with key partners.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and work towards common goals. Commitment to promoting inclusion, empowerment, and resident-centred care. 
  • Ability to prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations based on stakeholder input and Engagement activities.
  • Experience Developing and implementing strategies to enhance communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Experience or ability to organise and facilitate meetings, workshops, and events to gather information about clients and promote client empowerment.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and confidence in using Microsoft applications. 

Desirable 

  • Proven experience and successful track record in a comparable role or discipline(s) in the disability services, private housing sector or transferable sector.

  • Agree and undergo any other employment screening as required by Housing Choices - including but not restricted to Working with Children or Vulnerable Persons and NDIS Worker (this will be as applicable based on the state location and/or function of the role)
  • Agree and comply with Child Safety policies and procedures
  • Provide a current driver’s license and willingness to travel across Housing Choices’ locations, if and as required.
