Western Australian College of Agriculture - Narrogin (WACOA - Narrogin) is looking for a dedicated and experienced Kitchen Hand - Cleaner to join their team.
About the position
The successful applicant will assist the Chef and Cook with food preparation for the College and occasionally external groups, assist with cleaning of the kitchen, utensils, and equipment, serving of meals, washing dishes, and maintaining organised and clean storage areas. They will promptly report equipment and facilities faults whilst undertaking other related duties, as requested.
The successful applicant will be required to work supervised and unsupervised, be able to perform to a high standard of health, safety and hygiene within their work and be able to work unassisted and within a team. The current working hours for this position are from 6:00am – 2:30pm.
About the school
The Western Australian College of Agriculture Narrogin has a long and proud history of servicing the agricultural community of Western Australia. Established in 1906, Narrogin is the oldest agricultural College in the state and consistently ranks in the Top Public Schools for Vocational Education and Training. Students in years 10 through to 12 enrol from all over the state and the majority board on site in attractive residential facilities with individual air-conditioned rooms.
The course is centred on agriculture and related trades and students have access to education and training in industry relevant facilities. The theory of agriculture learned in the class program is coupled with practical skills developed on the college's 1340-hectare farm which operates a number of commercial scale enterprises. Students enjoy a varied week with full days out of the class environment and rostered to either farm or the trades workshops.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment to a busy schedule.
- Ability to recognise and interpret material safety data sheets, equipment operating instructions, safety instructions and training guidelines.
- Ability to use all cleaning equipment supplied to colleges, including polishers, vacuum cleaners, and pressure cleaners.
- Ability to carry out laundry or cleaning or catering duties, including the safe operation of cleaning or laundry or kitchen equipment and appliances.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
