Laboratory Analyst

AMAL Analytical is looking for a laboratory technician with excellent communication skills and an eye for detail to join our small, but growing team of analysts.

Located in Huntingdale VIC, AMAL Analytical Pty Ltd is a ISOIEC 17025 accredited laboratory in operation for over 30 years. Starting with pesticide residue testing for the agricultural sector, AMAL has grown to include methamphetamine and clandestine laboratory testing,  workplace health and safety testing, mould spore analysis, and speciality projects. Our goal is to provide excellent communication with our clients, and deliver fast, accurate results at affordable prices.

The Role

Reporting to the laboratory manager, a full-time position is available for a motivated individual that will include:

• Sample registration and organisation
• Preparation of agricultural and environmental samples for organic residue analysis;
• Preparation of workplace health and safety, agricultural, and environmental samples for inorganic metal analysis;
• Preparation and microscopic examination of air samples.
• Ongoing calibration and checks of general laboratory equipment including pipettes, analytical balances, ovens, and fridges.
• QAQC monitoring and checks.
• General laboratory duties and administrative tasks.

The Candidate

The role will suit someone who is looking to specialise as an analytical chemist with skills across in/organic testing in the agricultural, environmental and work place health and safety sectors. The following attributes, qualifications and experience are preferential:

• Hold appropriate TAFE or university qualifications;
• At least 2 years experience in a laboratory environment; 
• Experience and knowledge of ICP-AES, mercury hydride, and AAS instrumentation, including troubleshooting and maintenance, preferable;
• Show exceptional problem solving and organisational skills;
• Be self-motivated, with the ability to work autonomously;
• The capability to follow experimental protocols and maintain records in accordance with laboratory procedures and NATA requirements;
• Technologically adept and proficient in MS office.
• Willing to provide a national police check to meet internal policy.
