Laboratory And Technical Support Officer

Creating a brighter future for life in the Tropics and beyond, through education and research that makes a difference locally, and globally, James Cook University (JCU) is now looking to appoint a Laboratory and Technical Support Officer.  This is a full-time continuing opportunity and is based at the JCU Townsville campus.

How you’ll make a difference

Working collaboratively you will ensure staff and students can deliver outcomes by providing high-quality advice, training and service delivery that meets their requirements.  You will also deliver a safe working environment through appropriate support towards workplace health and safety (WHS) and continuous process and service delivery improvement.

What you’ll bring 

• An enthusiasm and passion to support international, world-leading researchers with expert advice, training, and Technical Support on the use of laboratory facilities
• Tertiary qualification in a science-related discipline, occupational health and safety or related discipline. 
• Ability to develop and maintain successful working relationships and collaborate with people from a wide range of research and Technical fields. 
• Proven ability to judge shifting priorities and conflicting deadlines. 
• Experience working within PC3 laboratories is desirable.
• The ability to participate in operational activity outside of the recognised normal span of hours on an on-call basis in accordance with the Enterprise Agreement.
