Laboratory Assistant

Avondale School is a K-12 independent School owned and operated by the Seventh-day
Adventist Church, located in Cooranbong. The School’s mission is to provide opportunities to know Christ, develop full potential and cultivate a love of learning.
We are seeking a suitably experienced and enthusiastic Laboratory Assistant to provide a high standard of support to our Science Learning Area. This role is responsible for the preparation and delivery of equipment and materials including the maintaining of equipment and laboratories in line with WH&S standards and current legislation, for our Science programs.

Essential Criteria

• Model and nurture an active relationship with Jesus and have a knowledge of and commitment to supporting the ethos and mission of Avondale School
• Possess an appropriate Science or Laboratory Technician qualification
• Be efficient in the utilisation and organisation of resources
• Have a strong attention to detail
• Possess strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to relate to school age students
• Have strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet time sensitive deadlines
• Possess a sound knowledge of current WH&S legislation and guidelines
• Have experience and be confident with risk assessment procedures
• Committed to child safety by providing a safe culture, safe operations and a safe environment. Only applicants with a Working With Children Check (WWCC) will be considered for this role.
• Be a team player
• Legally able to work in Australia

Desirable

• Knowledge of the requirements for Stage 6 Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
• Have experience working in a school environment
