Job Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as a Laboratory Assistant. The role primarily involves preparation of glassware and sampling media for field personnel, and recovery and analysis of samples using a range of laboratory techniques. You will be working in a friendly team environment and must be a self-starter able to work independently.
Specific laboratory duties including:
- In-house lab analysis including titrations, gravimetric analysis (weighing), gas chromatography and dynamic olfactometry;
- Administrative duties including preparation of laboratory sample reports, completion of chain of custody documents, shipping samples to external laboratories and recording sample movement.
- Preparing of chemical solutions;
- Sample preparation & clean-up;
- Maintaining lab cleanliness;
- Preparing glassware and sampling equipment / media based on monitoring team requirements;
- Perform routine and troubleshooting, calibration and maintenance on instrumentation and equipment.
- Working to strict schedules while maintaining product quality
Skills:
- An interest in science, chemistry and laboratory methods.
- Motivated and able to work independently
- Good working ability with computers and spreadsheets
- Good analytical and technical "hands-on" skills
- Aptitude for practical problem solving
- Aptitude for attention to detail to ensure a high degree of QA/QC
- A valid driver's license
