Imtrade CropScience is a privately-owned chemical formulator and supplier specialising in crop protection products. We operate from a custom-built facility at Kwinana Beach in Western Australia and supply a comprehensive range of products via our national network of sales and distribution centres.
The Laboratory Manager role is critical operationally, and to the future growth of business. To this end we seek to appoint a tertiary qualified chemist. Proficiency in a leadership role in a production or analysis environment is mandatory, with exposure to formal management systems well regarded. While previous exposure to crop chemicals is desirable, Imtrade CropScience is willing to support the right person in development of the necessary skills.
The Role:
The successful applicant will ultimately lead a team in the development of pesticide products, sampling and physical and instrumental testing of a range of raw materials, process streams, crop protection products and treated agricultural produce.
Inspection, calibration and associated administrative tasks to set timeframes and standards in the upkeep of various management systems (GLP, LIMs, OHS) is another responsibility. So too is the collation of data and report writing in support of regulatory submissions.
When needed, contribution to manufacturing and support activities including chemical receipt, selection, blending, filling, packing, cleaning and basic maintenance activities is expected
Mandatory Requirements:
Willingness to actively work in a real laboratory, safely handling hazardous substances and dangerous goods – shirkers and spotless-lab-coat types need not apply
Tertiary qualifications in chemistry, materials science, production or an associated discipline
Ability to balance proactivity and imagination with the requirement to work collaboratively, responsibly and intelligently
A committed approach to OHS and quality management frameworks
Ideal Qualities:
Flexibility and self-drive
Exposure to commodity/chemical/heavy industries
Laboratory experience (GLC, HPLC, FTIR, particle sizer, etc.)
Management and leadership skills
