Laboratory Manager to join our team based at Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.In this role, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the laboratory to provide analytical and technical services to the clients, ensuring that the working environment is safe and clean at all times. You will develop a business strategy for the existing and potential clients utilising the Geochemistry Marketing Department as required.
Job Description- Role based in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.
- Permanent position.
- Full-time, working 38 hours a week.
QualificationsResponsibilities will include, however, are not limited to:
- Ensuring a safe and clean working environment.
- Keeping clients informed on progress of samples and answer queries.
- Managing priorities and monitor progress to ensure timeliness and quality of results.
- Maintaining appropriate staff levels and encourage enhancement of skills.
- Ensuring adequate organisational structure is in place.
- Ensuring staff training and records are kept.
- Responsibility for quality and accuracy of results.
- Providing regular management and quality reports.
- Maintaining Quality Management System and Laboratory Manuals.
- Ensuring equipment is adequately maintained.
- Maintaining and improve own knowledge to be able to contribute towards progression of the laboratory.
- Responsibility for P&L whilst working within a defined budget.
- Contributing to setting operating and capex budget.
- Being compliant to all SGS QHSE and HR policies and procedures.
- At all times, complying with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
Additional InformationWe are looking for candidates who come from a fast-paced background, has dealt with complex clients and delivered high standard services. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Professional qualifications in chemistry or a related discipline or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Experience in laboratory work and chemical knowledge.
- Basic understanding of computer applications.
- Experience in supervising staff.
- Demonstrated experience in administration.
- Competent in using CCLAS LIMS.
- Knowledge of Company Quality Systems.
- Basic business finance understanding.
