Classification/Tenure

Part-time position working a minimum of 17.5 hours per week (0.5 full-time equivalent) contracted to 30 June 2027, with the possibility of extension and expansion in line with future funding programs.

There is potential to extend this role to assist in other grant projects.

Remuneration

Salary range of $38.86/hour to $43.18/hour depending on experience of the successful candidate, with 2.5% annual increase.

Plus superannuation and pro-rata leave entitlements.

Organisation Profile

Tweed Landcare Inc (TLI) is a community run, not-for-profit incorporated association working with the support of the broader Landcare movement.

We support people caring for the environment and natural resources of the Tweed. We provide information, training, project coordination, advocacy and representation for our members, locality groups, landholders and community.

Position/Role Objectives

The Landcare Community Officer will work with TLI to increase the capacity of the organisation to:

  • support and increase community engagement and participation in Landcare
  • communicate the achievements and opportunities of community participation in Landcare
  • increase the breadth of community involvement in Landcare through schools, community organisations and business
  • increase capacity of and provide support to more groups and landholders
  • facilitate workshops, meetings and educational events
  • undertake planning, develop partnerships, and secure resourcing through project grants and other sources
  • support and work closely with the Landcare Coordinator and Committee in the operation and governance of TLI

The Landcare Community Officer will collaborate with a range of support mechanisms including Local Landcare Coordinators, Regional Landcare Coordinator, Landcare Committees, Tweed Shire Council and Local Land Services.

Competencies/Selection Criteria

Essential

  • a demonstrated interest in, and commitment to, local environmental and agricultural land management issues
  • strong communication skills, written, oral and visual – ability to create and implement communication across traditional and social media on various platforms
  • good time management and work efficiency skills
  • interpersonal skills – ability to liaise and engage with a broad range of people effectively and maintain relationships
  • a proactive and community minded attitude
  • current driver’s licence and access to vehicle and insurance

Desirable

  • experience in project planning, management, monitoring, reporting and grant application
  • experience or qualification in any of: Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Sustainable Agriculture, Community Engagement, Event Management, Marketing or similar
  • knowledge of partnerships, key stakeholders and on-ground network
  • networking and stakeholder engagement skills

Reporting and Supervision

Position reports to the TLI Chair and the Landcare Coordinator and is supported by the TLI committee.

Attendance at meetings and events outside of normal work hours may be required. Regional travel and infrequent overnight stays may be required.

Office location will be Tweed Shire Council and working from home.

We currently utilise Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Mailchimp, Wordpress, Canva, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube.

You may be required to use your own vehicle for work purposes and provide us with copies of current Comprehensive or at least Third Party Property insurance policies. Vehicle use will be reimbursed on a per kilometre basis.
